French Terry
is a type of fabric that is created by knitting loops on one side of the fabric, while leaving the other side smooth. It is produced using a knitting machine. This unique construction sets it apart from other knitted fabrics. French terry is highly popular in activewear and casual clothing due to its moisture-wicking and breathable properties. The weight of French terry can vary, with lightweight options suitable for warm weather and heavier styles providing warmth and comfort in colder climates. Additionally, French terry comes in a variety of colors and patterns, making it suitable for both casual and formal garments.
In our products, French terry is commonly used to make hoodies, zip-up shirts, pants, and shorts. The unit weight of these fabrics ranges from 240g to 370g per square meter. The compositions typically include CVC 60/40, T/C 65/35, 100% polyester, and 100% cotton, with the addition of spandex for added elasticity. The composition of French terry is usually divided into the smooth surface and looped bottom. The surface composition determines the fabric finishing processes we can use to achieve the desired handfeel, appearance, and functionality of the garments. These fabric finishing processes include de-hairing, brushing, enzyme washing, silicone washing, and anti-pilling treatments.
Our French terry fabrics can also be certified with Oeko-tex, BCI, recycled polyester, organic cotton, Australian cotton, Supima cotton, and Lenzing Modal, among others.
Fleece
is the napping version of French terry, resulting in a fluffier and softer texture. It provides better insulation and is suitable for relatively cold weather. The extent of napping determines the level of fluffiness and thickness of the fabric. Just like French terry, fleece is commonly used in our products to make hoodies, zip-up shirts, pants, and shorts. The unit weight, composition, fabric finishing processes, and certifications available for fleece are similar to those of French terry.
